The Adrenaline-Charged Skyshot Experience!

Up for some dose of extreme adventure? Then, brace yourselves for this must-try outdoor activity and feel that adrenaline burst through your entire system with Cebu’s very own SKYSHOT! It’s an adventure taking you to the extremes of thrill and fun; the very first of its kind here in Cebu.

Just last March 29, 2014, I and my adventure buddy-slash-partner, Wendell, tested ourselves as to how far we can go when it comes to extreme adventure. When we were yet heading to the place, we were fully-charged with bravery and excitement to try it but when we got there, all energy just sank down to level zero after we saw one participant flying in mid-air, shouting at the top of her lungs. From the looks of it, Wendell told me he feels like Skyshot’s going to make him pee in his pants. Well, the feeling has always been mutual. Haha!

Basically, the idea of Skyshot is almost identical as with a slingshot except the part where the stone is fully released off a slingshot (You wouldn’t want it that way, right? Haha). More commonly, it is compared to a reverse bungee where instead of feeling the thrill of jumping off from a high elevation; you are conversely being thrown into mid-air feeling almost the same nerve-wracking thrill or even worse than that of the usual bungee jump.

The participant’s torso is secured with a harness for safety purposes. Helmets are likewise provided to ensure highest safety. While being tied with the harness, the safety officer will discuss shortly to the participant the basics of the activity, what to expect and what to do & not to do.

Additionally, they will also introduce to you their insurance plans in case the activity fails. Haha Yeah, no kidding. Skyshot’s safety officers will really horrify you with the experience instead of keeping you calm. Crazy but cool, huh! Now, that’s a jumpstart to the adventure ahead!  Says one of the safety personnel, “Taga St. Peter diay ku aside sa pagka-safety officer. Dala sa package diri, day kay amu diay’ng life insurance plan. Kami nasad bahala mu-sponsor sa  libreng pa-kape ug biskwit kung pananglit ma-unsa ka ig human aning Skyshot” (Aside from being a safety officer, I work for St. Peter Life Plan, Inc, too. Included in the package you availed for  is our life insurance plan.  We will also take care of the free coffee and biscuits in case something bad happens to you after trying the Skyshot.) Another one jokes, “Mura lagi na’g kabugtu’un ang pisi, bai” (The rope looks as though it’s going to break.) while referring to the elastic ropes of the Skyshot facility.

This is me being lectured by the safety personnel on some important precautions of the activity.
Murmuring prayers before the life or death experience ahead. Lol

After properly securing the participant, one personnel will give the signal and then, will abruptly release the strap that holds the Skyshot ropes to the ground. Just a few seconds after the strap is released, the participant is speedily thrown vertically to the sky.

The graceful aftermath. Good thing I didn’t throw up. 😀

Check out this video footage of our Skyshot experience! My screams really sound funny while Wendell was not really producing any sound, at all. (He made sure all his senses were up so his gay side won’t show. Kidding!)
